Sometimes there can be too many options in Melbourne when it comes to good quality dining. As a city, we have become spoiled by choice when it comes to high quality food and restaurants. With new restaurants opening up around town by the dozen, there’s always the pressure to try out the new kid on the block, which means old favourites keep dropping lower and lower on the priority chain.
This has been the case with me and Taxi Kitchen in Federation Square where I have always had an enjoyable dining experience, but yet to go back to in the last year. But after hearing they were launching a special Pre-Tennis Menu, I couldn’t wait to return and check it out. And at only a five to ten minute walk to Rod Laver Arena, it’s perfectly positioned in the heart of the action. And let’s not forget the bird’s eye view over the Yarra River and surrounds.
Designed by long term Executive Chef, Tony Twitchett, the menu is inspired by locally sourced produce with a distinctive contemporary Asian influence. On Taxi Kitchen’s Pre-Tennis menu there’s a two-course menu available for $65.00 per person including your choice of entrée, main or dessert or if you’re feeling extra hungry, a three-course option is available for an additional $20.
Here’s a sample of what you can expect on the menu…
Sake washed tuna, soybean pesto and daikon salad.
Candied pork, coconut salad and red nam jim
Crispy skin salmon, kipflers, cos hearts and black garlic dressing
Castlemaine Szechuan duck, hot Vietnamese mint salad
Dark chocolate parfait, macadamia nut and honeycomb crumble
The Taxi Kitchen Pre Tennis Menu will be available from January 18 – 31.
